YouTube Video Viewing Tips

Tips for instructors using YouTube videos in their training.
Tip No. 1 - Uninterrupted Streaming

This tip works when viewing just about any videos you'll find on the Internet.  After starting the video, immediately click the PAUSE button.

Now, just wait until you see a light gray bar appear below the viewing screen, moving from left to right.  The ideal waiting period will depend on the size of the video and your own download capability.  For a longer video, try 20-30 seconds, more or less.

After the wait period, click the PLAY button and the video should now run to conclusion without any annoying interruption in the video's streaming.

Tip No. 2 - Hassle-Free Full Screen Viewing

A typical YouTube video URL looks like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cB-eKEsMEEY

When you click on this link, the video will open in a separate window, showing the video at the YouTube web site, complete with the smaller viewing screen plus all the extraneous garbage not related to this video.

This time click on this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cB-eKEsMEEY

You should see nothing but the video itself.  And for an even better view, click on your browser's full-screen button or press F11.  Do you see the difference?

The key to this is the first part of the URL (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=).  Just add any video's identifying code after this to get the same result.  In this example, the code is "cB-eKEsMEEY."

Now combine this with Tip No. 1 and you're off to the races.
