Final Rule: Walking-Working Surfaces and Fall Protection Standards On November 17, 2016, OSHA issued a final rule updating its 44-year old general industry Walking-Working Surfaces standard to protect workers from slip, trip, and fall hazards. The rule also increases consistency in safety and health standards for people working in both general and construction industries. OSHA estimates the final rule will prevent more than 5,800 injuries a year. The rule takes effect Jan. 17, 2017.
FP541 Rope Grab Clinch Nut Product Advisory North Safety has received reports that the clinch nut on our FP541 series rope grab is being dislodged from the body of the rope grab housing in situations where there is repetitive impact to the unit.
Safety Alert: 50 ft. / 15 m. Workman® Self-Retracting Lanyard MSA is issuing this User Safety Notice due to a potential safety issue involving 50 ft. / 15 m. Workman SRLs. They have determined that a small percentage of Workman 50 ft. / 15 m. SRLs manufactured from January through August of 2015 may have an improper brake nut torque setting.
Safety Alert: Fall Protection Harness Recently, two separate incidents involving SALA “bosun’s chair” style fall protection harnesses were reported. In the first incident, a new SALA Model 1106103 Delta II Oil Derrick Harness was noted to have been improperly assembled by the manufacturer.
Caterpillar Fall During normal haul truck operations at an open pit mine, a female operator was found on the ground at a location directly below the access ladder to the driver’s deck of a Caterpillar 777D haul truck.
