2013 National Coal Mine Rescue, First Aid, Bench and Preshift Competition, September 9-12, Columbus, OH

The National Mining Association (NMA) is pleased to be the sponsor of the 2013 National Coal Mine Rescue, First Aid, Bench and Preshift Competition from September 9-12 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The four-day competition includes team competitions for Mine Rescue and First Aid and individual competitions for Bench and Preshift.

The event begins on Monday, Sept. 9, at 7 a.m., with First Aid team competition and Bench individual competition.  The Mine Rescue team competition will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10 - Wednesday, Sept. 11, beginning at 7 a.m. each day.  The Preshift individual competition will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 a.m.

The event concludes with an Awards Banquet on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m., in the Battelle Grand Ballroom at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) will provide the field, written and technical problems for the competition.  MSHA will also judge the events, hear any appeals and determine the winners.

Registration

Registration is open until June 15, 2013.  Any registration forms received after June 15, 2013 will be accessed a 25 percent penalty fee.  The final cutoff for registration is Aug. 1, 2013.

To compete in any of the competitions (team or individual), each person must be employed by a coal company.

Non-refundable registration fees are:

Team Competitions

Mine Rescue: $3500 (includes one mine rescue team registration and 10 Awards Banquet Tickets)

First Aid: $700 per team

Individual Competitions

Bench: $400 per participant

Preshift: $400 per participant

Award Banquet Tickets

$50 per person, before July 31

$60 per person, after July 31

Hotel

Hotel reservations are the responsibility of the teams or individuals involved in the competition.  Attached is information for the hotels holding rooms for the 2013 Competition.  Please make your hotel reservations as soon as possible.  Rooms are being held for a limited period of time.
